Description:

Under the Director of Sales’ direction, in predefined areas, the IBDR identifies and contacts prospective clients, and targets potential and existing “C” accounts and/or out of town accounts that will generate sales leads. This position will also be responsible for providing service maintenance to those territories where there are voids, or vacant Vitran Representation. This individual is also responsible for all account activity in ensuring that our customer retention management (ACT) system has data integrity. This role will serve as an integral part of our value proposition (ensuring quality and consistency of service and/or product delivery) to the customer/client by net resulting in revenue generation support.

 

Main Duties :

  • Following an action plan(s) and scheduled to identify and qualify specific targets (“C”), 25K and below
  • Perform a minimum of 30-40 outbound calls per day as defined by the Director of Sales
  • Follow up on new leads and referrals resulting from call activity
  • Drawn from outbound calls, a minimum of 1 to 2 new business generation [share of wallet leads] per day
  • Accountable in assisting and developing sales revenue of 500k in annual business growth or 125k per quarter
  • Maintains, grows and records activity for vacant or void territory, with specific emphasis on Top 20 accounts using ACT as database for recorded activity
  • Establishes rapport and maintains contact with (designated and potential) customers/clients
  • Oversees existing account services through quality checks and other follow-up as specified per department requirements; identifies and resolves client concerns as it pertains to growth
  • Knows, understands and delivers Vitran’s value proposition on each customer interaction.  

Knowledge, skills and abilities required:

  • High energy, enthusiastic person for a thirst to learn this field with a potential to develop into an Account Executive for Vitran
  • Willing to take courses related to their development in the industry
  • Strong interpersonal and telephone communication skills, and an ability to work effectively with a wide range of individuals in a diverse community
  • Ability to prepare routine administrative paperwork
  • Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports
  • Ability to identify and/or follow up on sales leads and referrals
  • Knowledge of postal or commercial shipping methods and procedures
  • Ability to create, compose, and edit written material
  • Ability to persuade and influence others
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems
  • Knowledge of Customer Service standards and procedures

Education/Training:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or a related field, and/or a combination of a High School diploma or GED and at least 5 years of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Ideally, a minimum of 2 years of professional work experience in a relevant field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of transportation modes knowledge: Full Load, Less Than Truckload via road and rail/intermodal is preferred.
